Professional Biography and CV
Nicola Wydenbach is a graduate of the RCM where she was supported by a scholarship from Diva Opera. She has sung for English National Opera, Scottish Opera, the Monteverdi Choir, Philharmonia Voices and London Voices. She has performed the roles of Russian Mother and Newspaper seller in Death in Venice at the Aldeburgh and Bregenz Festivals, created the role of Nymph in Ludd and Isis for ROH Education as well as performing the soprano solos for Streetwise Opera Fables. Other roles include Virtu in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea, Ilia in Mozart's Idomeneo, Sandmann in Humperdink's Hansel und Gretel, La Sorella Infermiera in Puccini's Suor Angelica and Bridesmaid in Rota's Il cappello di paglia di Firenze, Giannetta in Donizetti's Elixir of Love for Opera South, Juno in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld for Kentish Opera and the role of Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni for Longborough Festival Opera/CS Collaboration. She has also performed Dido in Dido and Aeneas with the Brook Street Band and created the role of Teacher in a newly composed opera "Hedgemond the Hedgehog" by Emily Leather.
Nicola is an experienced oratorio soloist having worked for societies throughout England. She has sung the Brahms’ Requiem conducted by Sir Neville Marriner. Plans for this season include Rutter’s Requiem in London and Theodora in Norwich.
Nicola has also premiered, NeoNatale, a piece specially written for her by Judith Bingham.
